Is it too late to start college at 26?
Question:
Would it be bad for me to go full time, quit my career that Ive worked on for 6 years, and just wait tables to get by while I go to school. Is there a good answer?
Answer:
No, it is not too late to start college. But..if you have a good job right now, i dont recommend quitting it completely. You've worked on it for so long, keep it for now. Instead, start with part-time night classes. Definitely go for the career you want, take steps towards it. But keep your job, because waiting tables may not be such a good idea if you have something better than that.
i don't think it's ever too late to get a better education, my stepdad is 35 and he is taking college classes also.
as for career part, maybe take night classes, then you can work in the day, school at night!
Its never too late!! However, maybe you shouldn't completely quit your job, maybe you should go part time. You could even try night classes.
No, it is not too late for you. I am 29 and jsut started my 2nd year at a local Community College. You will get enough financial aid to live on, but if waiting tables is an option for you, I would siggest doing it for extra money.
It depends on how you want to live, too...4 years of struggling for a lifetime of comfort sounds like a great idea...until you get into it and start incurring roadblocks that make it seem that you are making the wrong decision...
I say go for it.
It is not too late.
Difficult maybe but not impossible.
I suggest you to make a financial plan for the money you will not earn while you are at school.
Congratulations, it is a good decision.
My dad is 62 and taking classes, even though he is retired. As the old saying goes, an idle mind is the devil's workshop; and the devil is Alzheimers.
I think it's great that you want to go back to school and follow your dreams. If you can support yourself and your son, then go for it.
It is a great lesson for your son too. He can see what you sacrificed to follow your career dreams, and he will hopefully be willing to do the same when he grows up.
It is going to be a lot of work, so good luck!
I personally think you're doing a great thing. I'm 32 and now wanting to go to Med School. I think you should go for it. Do you have a good support system at home? If you wait tables, is there another form of income?

How can it be bad to improve yourself? To show your kids that life can be even better. That you never have to settle. That it's never too late. Don't abandon your kids...make them a part of things even more...I'm going to need your help...bring all the dirty clothes and put them in piles of colors like this...(Not a slave, let them HELP YOU.)
I think it's wonderful!!
Do it!
God bless you and yours in your decision and in the outcomes.
hell no its not to late to ever better yourself! if you have the will (and money) to go to college, then go! my moms 43 and she just started her Ph.D 3 years ago and sometimes she tells me that its embarrasing (because sometimes she has to take undergraduate classes) but in the end its all worth it.
..i just wish i had my money situation figured out, so i could go.
