What is it like to do college on line?

Question:

I am a 19 year old soon to be college boy and I am considering doing college online. I am probably better off online because college professors are really strict and classes are too big and stuff on campus. I have a few questions:
1. Explain to me what college is online, what is the enrollment process and how does this work?
2. How can you learn college online without teachers, classmates, professors, how do you recieve stuff and HOW DO YOU COMMUNICATE? (Do you like do it IM style, or do i have to e-mail my professor each time i finish a worksheet or I have a question)
3. What can I do if it is too challenging or I can't keep up with the work? (I don't want to go to college on campus.)
