Has anyone taken an online college course? Are they hard? Any info would be appreciated.?

Question:

Answer:
Usually test times are given in the form of a window. Usually 3 days, you schedule the test.

In regards to the class, I took 3 and I did very well in both (Solid A). I think the key is, do you know anything about the subject.

I studied biology, computer art and criminal justice online and I know alot about them. I would only take classes online when I had a solid understanding of the basics and could educate myself. IE, I would never take a math class online.

They do require you to be motivated. Many people in my class did very poorly because they tried to do all the work the night before the exam. You have to keep up and no one is reminding you. Also, no one reminds you when projects are due.

If you are repsonsible, they are a great way to fit classes into your schedule. (I took Comp Sci online, my roommate had it Monday Wednesday Friday at 8am.)

One last word of warning: If your teacher does lectures and posts them online, TAKE NOTES. My friend just listened to online lectures and did poorly, I took notes and did well.
Like any other in-person class, the difficulty depends on the teacher and material. The main difference is whether the teacher knows how to use technology to his/her advantage, is an interesting lecturer over audio/video instead of in person, and whether you have enough discipline to force yourself to do work when no one's monitoring you. Consider those factors when you make your decision.
define hard? online courses are generally compacted so you'll learn more in a shorter time period. they are cut and dry type of learning in which you only need to learn what you need to know. they have study guides and such but it is all at your own pace usually. you prepare for the tests when you're ready to take them. easier than regular college and quicker but the learning is a bit more intense if your on a schedule.
i took one. it really depends what you take. my friend took calculus and did not do very well because you really need a teacher/classroom environment for a hard course like that. one on one and group work...solving problems together. that kind of stuff. she just had a text book and a chat room, made it rather difficult. but for literature classes its a great idea. you can go and read the book then discuss it with people online in your class and then go do whatever other work is involved.
hope that helps
I haven't taken any but I have friends who are taking them right now. They say it's pretty easy. You can study at your own pace. You only go up to the campus to take test or if their is some type of class orientation. However, for me I need to be in a classroom environment.
I have had quite a few friends gain degrees from Britain's Open University. They enjoyed it. It was hard work, and is more highly regarded in Europe than most US degrees.
Online courses are not necessary harder than face-to-face courses. It depends on your learning style. If you learn better by discussion and team work, then online learning has less of that, even if there are group projects, the communications seems less genuine. If you learn better by working independently, then it's no problem.

It also depends on what kind of technology it uses. Does it involve real-time web cam, for example? Or is it all asynchronized material? Most importantly, can you find someone to help you when you have a question? If the teacher is not available most of the time, then you have to rely on your own to figure out a lot of stuff, which is time consuming.
