Should I have my parents assist me while I apply online for college or do it myself?
Question:
Answer:
If they went to college and have experience with the application process, I would definitely let them help.
Well...if you think you have that much potential and freedom, go ahead and fill the application form, its really not intricate or difficult. But if you really wish your parents to guide you in proper manner, seek the help...its not harmful.
i filled out about 13 applications, and i can easily say that it was not a hard process, perhaps a bit daunting but not hard. There are places were you might need the assistance of your parents, but i think you should be able to handle it :) good luck!
nope. I'm sure they give you that bullshit about how they are paying for it therefore they should be involved. think about it...it's your choice not their choice. Why do you think so many students are unhappy at their respective colleges...because they were either encouraged to go there even though they weren't sure they wanted to, and because people think about reputation and what others will think of for example a small liberal arts schools in Iowa as opposed to say Yale or Brown. I made a choice that I was happy with, and I'm beginning school this fall...if your parents have the money to afford college for you, and you have the grades to go it shouldn't be a big deal for them to fork over the cash...that's the least a parent can do. I'm not thankful that my parents are paying for college for me...they have the money so they shouldn't act like it's a big sacrifice. If on the other hand parents have to struggle to make ends meet then that is a huge deal, and I would be forever grateful for the oppurtunity that I'm getting...but you're parents shouldn't use strange excuses, and make threats so they can gain access to your personal decisions. Go where you want to go, not where your parents want you to so they can tell their friends that you go to such and such a school, and don't go where your friends, or classmates want you to go because then it becomes their choice, not yours.
