Are college degrees online such as Phoenix Online looked down on in the buisness world?

Question:

Answer:
I work in Human Resources. The answer depends on the online school. University of Phoenix is fine, it is accredited and well established. However there are some diploma mills on line that are not really college degrees. Some of these set up their own accrediting companies so they look like they are accredited!! Watch out. The accreditation should be the same as a regular college or university in your area would get, same credentials. Good luck.
Yes they are
I wouldn't say they are necessarily looked down on but it could be seen as a lesser option when it comes to competing for a job.
Yes and no - it depends on the employer. For example, one employer I've worked with doesn't mind degrees from Devry or UPhoenix or the like, so long as the school is accredited. But even there, you'll only be considered for certain types of jobs. So, if you wanted to work in marketing on the fast-track to Product Management? No. But as a marketing assistant? U Phoenix would be fine.

Other employers won't even consider you. One of my past employers was an example of that. They'd rather hire a graduate from Joe's State College than someone from U Phoenix. They just didn't trust the quality of the graduates.

So, again, it depends on the employer.
