Married and trying to go to college.?

Question:
I am a married mom and am trying to get into college. However, I do not qualify for finacial aid because of his income. Are there any ways to get aid through the government? I don't qualify for loans because of credit issues. And I am aiming for my associates in Accounting through an online school.

Answer:
First and foremost don't be discouraged. I would try an online scholarship search engine such as www.fastweb.com or scholarships.com they provide a free internet search for scholarships which you qualify (or nearly qualify) for. Secondly you will probably not qualify for a Pell Grant if you have been denied financial aid because of too much income. As for online degrees I would stay away from smaller, less well known programs because many of them are diploma mills and in the job market that can mean the difference between getting a job and not. Have you looked into taking the accounting courses at a community college? Alot of buisnesses will hire someone who has an AA in Accounting from a community college and will later pay for further schooling. Just something to think about. Community colleges are perfect for the student on a budget and because so many people use them who are in the workforce the classes are usually offered at many different times. Also many cc's have free childcare available (especially if they have a child developement program). Hope this helps.

Get a federal job and the College is almost free. All you do is pay for the books. Or talk to someone at your community college about a deferred payment contract, where you don't have to pay anything until you have your degree and working in your chosen career.
First of all, becareful of the online schooling. Make sure you check and re-check their credentials. Second, try a pell grant, depending upon his income.
