Say im in college, how do i open my computer port so i can host online games like warcraft 3 online?

Question:
the firewall makes it so that you cannot allow any incoming people, but i saw one of my friends in a different college host a game, i just dont know how he did it. anyone have any clue how to do it?

Answer:
Setup a VPN with something like Hamachi.
Some colleges block some of the ports! If you are having specific problems with a particular port, you may need to talk to the network admin at your college.

Most university networks don't allow the ports needed to play WoW. The ports needed are 3724(TCP), 6112(TCP), and 6881-6999(TCP). You should contact your network operater/administrator regarding the forwarding/allowing of these ports on your school's network.

You also need to configure any firewalls you have on your computer. Common firewalls are the Windows built-in firewall, as well as McAfee, Norton, ZoneAlarm, etc etc. Directions on port configuring for your windows firewall are available at http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=... . You can view more information on this at http://blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=msi0... and you can contact blizzard tech support at wowtech@blizzard.com or by using the webform here: http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=... if you still need assistance after this.
