What are some motivational tips to help me with homework and studying?

Question:
I take online college courses and am almost done with my degree, however, I've hit a slump, and simply don't want to do the work..How can I get myself motivated?

Answer:
If you have that thing that makes you short-circuit right before the finish line, this is called fear of success and change.

As yourself what the worst case scenario will be if you don't do the work. You do have a choice. You don't have to do it.

Giving yourself permission to NOT do it, and accept the consequences, might make a difference in how this plays out.
It happens to everyone. Just set up a deadline for yourself. Take the rest of the week off, relax, go out with friends - but tell everyone come Monday, you're back to work! And stick to it.
Think welfare, foodstamps...maybe that will motivate you to study. Remember you could always be waiting in line at social services!
ok...first I'd check my head to see if I'm really doing what's right for me. The 'simply don't want to do the work' is a real bad sign. If you don't want to do it now, what happens when you get a job and you HAVE to do it? Will the money be enough motivator? If you aren't interested in what you're doing now, while you're learning it, it'll be double hard later. That said, try thinking about all the money you've paid for this, and maybe that will help you finish.
Take a stroll downtown. Take a close look at the guy in the cardboard box in the alley. He's got another one for YOU!
Or you could do your homework...
since you are almost done, you can think to yourself that in a few weeks (or what ever time it is) I won't have to work on this at all if and only if I push hard. And also you can offer yourself a reward (like a nice food treat, going out to dinner, or a moive) after a hard days work.
Music! You inspire me to learn more about anatomy!
The biggest thing is to be realistic with your goals. If you plan 3 hours of studying with no breaks, you won't be able to get started and it will only put you on a downward spiral.

You can try giving yourself small rewards for finishing each hour of studying, such as a soda, a small bag of candy, a phonecall to a friend, etc.

Sometimes the best way is to just take a whole day off and not think about it, and then start fresh the next day

I know what you're going through my senior year of college, the last 2-3 weeks were so painful, I hated studying, I just wanted to be done. You just have to find that internal drive that got you to the end and keep reminding yourself of how close you are - ie. it's just one week left and then I'm done!

Good luck!
When you get your degree you will make more MONEY!
Knowing you accomplished something, actually a GOOD THING!
Honey I totally understand...I'm the same way. You are almost done and then you will off doing the job that you love. So, just plan ahead, review your notes and take breaks. Go out to eat, study, exercise, study, phone a friend, study, take a nap, study, watch tv, study...see how easy that was. No seriously, you have to stay focused, it's hard but remember it's worth it.
Say this out loud three times.Would you like fries with that?.. Now get your butt back in the chair and make yourself a success. This might help also my father would say this to me if I ever hit a problem that I thought was too big or I could not overcome it..Quit your crying you baby. Toughin up and rub some dirt on it. LETS GO LETS GO. Oh and Jesus loves you and you can sit on your hands. I never made me feel better but we always giggled at the end because I was little and was crying he asked what was wrong. I said I'm cold and no one loves me.
Did you pay for tution out of your pocket? Think of the money wasted if you don't finish.

I'm with Clayton College of Natural Health and after paying that much tution, I better keep up the pace.

Think about the nice career you'll be starting when you finish.

Are there other students in the area you could study with?
think of al the money and time youve put into and ask yourself is it worth giving up because tired
So you're suffering from senioritis are you? Everyone does. It is the result of slaving away for 16 years and you get tired of it. So how do you get to the end without going nuts?

Schedule time where you will absolutely study. Some put aside 2 hours every day. Others set aside 3 - 4 evenings every week. During these times you block everyone and everything else out and just do it. Let's face it, although you are paying for the privlidge of learning, school is your real job right now. So treat it like one.

In addition, schedule some blow-off time. It will give you something to look forward to, to work for.

Finally, find others that you are able to study with. You will be able to encourage each other while you are running towards the finish line of a diploma.

Good luck.
I was exactly the same as you, I never wanted to do the work, it just gets you stressed if you find something hard and then you get depressed, eventually my school kicked me out all together because of my attitude towards work. Now I am at a 'Preparing for Work' program until May, it was really hard to get into but I want to have a good future, maybe my story will motivate you to want to learn more as if you get kicked out of your college course you may not have a second opportunity, and then you may not have a decent future with decent money. Dont work yourself to hard but everytime you think 'I cant be bothered' just think to yourself that you want a good future and you want to see yourself succeed.

Hope I helped
xx
Make your homework mean something to you. You're getting a degree in an area that you're interested in, right? Cater all your work towards the area of interest. Homework and studying is not interesting.YOU have to make it interesting. If you're not passionate or at least interested about your degree, then you're getting that degree for the wrong reasons.
get more sleep, and go to bed early.
Keep thinking what diiference this degree will make in ur life. Better job, higher salary, career progress, even u can get a better quality husband, if it matters.
Get a study Buddy
You have come this far from finishing so don't slack off get it done then do a victory dance and tell everyone. go out and enjoy your success .You will then have time and no pressure .. you have completed and finished courses..
It's happening to me. The time has come for you to really ponder: is this really what I want to do in my life? Is this the major that suits me? Is this the field I want to work in? Is there anything else that I'm more interested in, or that I can do better? If there's anything instead of "this" that really motivates you, look into it!

But if you are sure you want to go on with what you started, I think attending real classes would be motivating for you. It's lively, interactive, and it will give meaning to your homework. Good luck!
If you don't do it, you won't graduate at all, and all your hard work will be for nohing, and you'll have wasted years of your life, and you won't ever become anybody important, ever, and you'll just sit around sucking for the rest of your life, saying to yourself, "was it really worth it to spend all that time on AnswersRoom.com and not doing my homework?"

And the answer to that question will motivate you, but I don't know which way.

Personally, I hope you get back to your homework. But maybe you're going to go ahead and try to reach lv. 8 now.
Visualize yourself in your chosen career: successful, motivated, in the top of your field, gaining respect and FINANCIAL FREEDOM. Visualize your next big step, AFTER the degree...how you want to use it for your highest good. Be the DREAM. BE the goal. You can do it. This is just a necessary step to your future. Treat yourself to a favorite indulgence AFTER you do the work, at least it will give you a little "golden carrot" to chase right now.
Good luck, you can do it!
set a goal for yourself and decide to achieve it and work towards it with focus . If you do something that you like you will enjoy it. There is no limit to knoledge and education. But choose the one you like or want and work at it .Else take up a job if you think that you are not interested to study further . If you hae been an on line student for long try , joining some college .The new environ ment could offere some refeshing change .let not the change be one that would hinder the achievement of the goal you set for yourself .
Do you want fries with that?

GET BACK TO UR BOOKS! GET OFF THE BLODDY COMPUTER, AND GET TO UR STUDIES! ;) Did that help?
you should think about the end results of the homework, what its going to bring you. I have taken them so i know first hand that online classes are difficult to make yourslef do unless you really want to. If you are didicated enough to be taking those classes, then you obviously really enjoy want you are going to be doing, keep reminding yourself, that doing this stupid, boring stuff now is gonna bring you that joy. That's what always works for me.
I have a TIP for you. Students should try to study as much as they can during daytime hours. When I study, I usually try to study during daytime, From my personal experience, study during the day time is much better than study during night time. I remember things better during daytime and I tend to not to slack off as much during daytime. Sometimes, there are less distraction for me during the daytime and I found myself more awake, even if I feel sleepy, take a 20~30 minute nap to recharge your energy. You should only study everything at night only if it's absolutely necessary, (i.e., due to work, after school activities,...etc.) besides, study as much as possible would usually reduce yourself from getting stress out at night time. Best of all, it would prevent you from staying up all night!"
Saddam says study hard and go to class listen and learn.
The next time you go to a fast food restaurant, take a good look at the person behind the counter and remind yourself that there is where you wind up without a degree.
start doing some of the hard work that people who didn't studied is doing.
