Online accredited colleges for Psychology major?
Question:
Thank you
Answer:
You are very smart for asking this question! Bravo!
Always check the accreditation of the college or university with this federal database: http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/...
2 recommendations for Psy majors - check out Fielding Graduate Institute: http://www.fielding.edu/ They have a very good online program and a very limited residency requirement.
Also, take a look at some of the programs offered by the University of Oklahoma http://www.ou.edu - you may be able to look into their online programs as well.
As another answer already provided - check into your local institutions for their continuing ed or outreach programs. Many of them are jumping on the distance learning bandwagon!
Either way, be sure to do your homework regarding the institution and its reputation - most of all, the accreditation!
(Again, check the site provided.)
I'm currently an online student. However, I'm going to a state college (Adams State College, Alamosa Co). I would say look at regular universities for online options. Almost all of them have them. Then you wouldn't have to worry about whether it was a "real" degree. Mine won't look any different then an on campus student. I even get to go and walk across the stage and my degree in May. I'm including Adams State's web address. If you go there check out Extended studies for what degree programs they offer (there's no out-of-state tuition on extended studies classes).
I do know that Northwestern State University in Louisiana has an online psychology degree. I went to that university, but was a different major. I have friends that are in that course of study however. I agree that is always a good idea to check to the accredition of the school and the program of study. Good luck.
