Question:
When finances get tough, my other half becomes more irresponsible and selfish. We are expecting our 2nd child, and leaving isn't an option. I work full time, but I have taken out of work on hospital ordered bedrest because our son was born 17 weeks prematurely, and now our baby on the way has been thinking of coming early as well. I am taking online college courses towards my master's, and I care for our 6 1/2 year old son as well. My hubby works and goes to the gym, picks up our son from school on his days off. That's it. I manage the finances, but since I am out of work we are in bad sorts right now. Whenever I try to talk to him he just blows up, calls me names! I am at my wits end, no doubt that the stress is affecting everyone in the house except him. I need some help and suggestions on how to ask him to be more responsible without turning it into a huge fight! Thanks for suggestions!
Answer:
Put it in black and white, list what's coming in and what's going out, list all your debt credit cards and all! Leave it on the table or somewhere where he will see it and hope for the best. Good luck!
tell him that he needs to calm down and listen to you. tell him that you are doing everything yourself and he needs to help more! tell him that if he doesnt help you and listen to you .. you will go to marriage counseling.. because if he cant listen to you the marriage wont go much of anywhere!
write him a letter.it is so much easier than having someone interupt you and argue with you. Just let him know what he needs to do to help you and ask him when he has time to set aside to go over your finances together. Maybe sometime after the kids are sleeping or maybe go somewhere to discuss these things so your kids dont see your husband calling you names because well thats a hole other situations tell him you need his time and full attention.
Take some time to relax, I know you have your hands full but a couple of minutes will do you good. Try planning a quiet evening with just the two of you and try to talk it out. Tell him you need more help and understanding. And remember never stop praying.
