Is it possible to have a satisfying true online relationship?

Question:

I'm graduating high school soon and have a first and only boyfriend that's a freshmen in college; it's not going so great. But there's an older man I met online that has become real to me and I'm not sure if it's possible to think that there could be a real relationship with him...he's not asking to meet but I think I would like to, but scared at the same time. Please advise me on what I should do! Thanx =)
