Why take online college courses instead of attending a university?

it's cheaper, some people have full time jobs so they don't have time to go to actual classes; online classes allow you to take them whenever you have time.
I have a friend who is getting her MBA online. I tried to take online courses because I thought that it would be so convenient but it wasnt because I found out that I am really not home that much. I was much more disciplined when I actually had to attend a class.
the question is - if the study for yourself, or for others?
i don't know. but if someone will demand
a provement by papers - is it the same?
if not - than learning on-line is just waste of time and efforts.
To save on time on travel, to attend the course with all the comforts of your home.
I took on-lines courses over the summer instead of a classroom... The classes were much easier for me, cheaper and I had time to go to work and save money for the next semester... some people find it much more convienent, and the on-line classes dont last 5 months like university classes!
