Question for people over 50 without a college degree.. Where to look for information? What book(s)?

Question:
This is a question I'm trying to answer for my dad: careers he can explore pass the age of 50 without a college degree. He has a high school diploma and up to this point, he has held a steady job with a newspaper company but he needs to find work elsewhere very soon. What are some options he has? He brought up the idea of becoming a limo driver. He also wants to stay away (preferably) from office work since he's been involved with that type of work for a number of years.

The job has to support a middle-class family. Are there any websites online where I can look for free information to answering this question? How about any recommended books/guides you know of? Please help me in anyway possible. It would be a great deed for me and my family. Thank you to all who reply!

Answer:
Does your area have a local state employment agency nearby? They are trained to help and there are funds available in most states if you go through them, to retrain older adults for new jobs. Please have your dad check in to it. Good luck

Remember to make sure it is a state agency. If he goes through a private company he will not get any grants. There is money set aside just for this purpose.
Limo driver is good. Security guard. Auto parts store.
