How do you apply for college. is there any application i can get from anywhere else other than online.?
Question:
Answer:
If you' re in high school, you really should discuss this with your guidance counselor. You should not go forward with this process until you go to their office.
If you are not in high school, make an appointment with your local community college's guidance office.
You should do this because they will help you with all your questions. Also, most colleges require a letter of recommendation from a teacher. For advice, I highly suggest you go to your guidance counselor or career counselor.
The SAT test is not pass/fail. It is a test based on a point system. For as many as you get right, you just a certain number of points, answers you leave blank have 0 plus or minus, and wrong answers get minus points. You get points for filling out your name correctly.
The best possible score on the SAT is a 2400. The average SAT score is about 1540. I recommend using Princeton Reviews "Counselor-o-Matic." It will determine what schools will give the most financial aid and your SAT score.
But an example of SAT averages at certain schools...
Harvard - 2200
Williams - 2125
University of Virginia - 2000
UCLA - 1900
Iowa State - 1825
Ohio State - 1800
DePaul - 1750
Arizona - 1700
University of Indiana - 1650
The score you get will determine what schools you can go to. For example, if you don't take or have a very low grade on the SAT, then you will probably be going to a community college. Private colleges tend to be more selective than public. You will need to get at least an average SAT score to attend a private college. You can retake the SATs as often as you like. The highest score will be registered.
If you do not want to fill the applications for schools online, go to the schools' websites that you are interested in applying. Go to admissions, and there they should have an option for them to send you information and an application.
Also, if you're in high school they should have hard copy applications in the guidance office.
The FAFSA will determine your financial aid, and private schools accept it. Also, you can receive grants and scholarships if you are an outstanding student or participate in extra curriculars. The government and scholarships do not give the money directly to you. You send them your acceptance letter to the college you are attending, and they will send the aid to that school. You should make an appointment with the financial aid office at the college when you are accepted.
Good luck!
