I Have a Serious Problem! (Community College Life)?

Question:
I'm in community college and live at home still and am just doing horrible.

im a full time student with no job. my 5 classes consist of the following grades: A+, A, B, A-, B

I've gained 10 lbs since this first fall semester began and im eating really bad. at least once fast food a day and my mom cooks a lot of food which is not unhealthy but is a lot.

i long to transfer into a private university and live on my own because i see that as an opportunity to change my eating and study habits. (I study now but not as much as i'd like).

I cant help but be lethargic here at home. I wake up for class at 9am, get home at like 4pm and then usually sleep from 5pm-10pm...then i go back to sleep sometime between 1am-3am and then i do it all over again.

I need energy, i want to do something with my time, not just sleep.
I lock myself in my room where i do everything: schoolwork, watch tv, go online, sleep, etc.

I wanna workout and be healthy but obviously easier said then done.

...Help.

Answer:
I'll give you some facts on college life, as an expert because I live in a dorm at my university for two years now.
1. Students who live in dorms are most gauranteed to gain the 'first 15' which is 15 pounds gained from poor eating habits. Most students order pizza, and drink pop and raid the vending machines and snack lines all day..or in my case my room mates cook bacon at 4 am!

2. Living with a bunch of students can be hard, not evertyone may be as 'clean' or as 'relaxed about cleaning' as you, and others might not respect personal property..I.E (which makes me furious) using my utensils..eating my food..etc

3. When you live on campus the chances of you going to class are minimal . Everyone in my dorm and I mean everyone sleeps in..Half of my dorm failed and their parents yanked them out of the dorms and brought them back home next year.

4. The social life can make or break you. There are alot of parties to attend, groups clubs to join..scheduling this all in 24/7 with school work an be hard.

i would suggest instead join a group at school so you can still live at home but go on outings and participate in the fuctions they hold around school. my school has club week you can join cultural clubs, cooking clubs, clubs related to your program of study etc...
take advantage of the facilities at school instead of locking yourself up in your room, study at the library, use the gym facilities..or better yet get a job on campus.

last but not least, changing some of your eating habits or getting drinks that boost energy like fruit drinks with "alfala or grass" will help give you some get up and go.. You have to motivate yourself.. get a 4 month calender hang it in plain sight and fill it with a bunch of things to do outside your room to keep yourself busy always..

Good luck!!
Talk with the financial aid officer/personnel at the college where you'd like to go, and see what you can do about getting scholarships.
hey man just keep in school. I just started back at mesa. And for me i got early in the morning and went for a forty-five min bike ride around the neighbor. Find a local of streets like a race track but around your neighborhood, and then walk for 45 min at night..for the eating i was 210 and not pretty, my friend told me drink green tea, so i get this green tea made with gun powder my stomach shrank and soda and chips i didn't want and all the junk food. now steady at 190
