Is online colleges creditable? If so, what is a good one?

Question:

Answer:
The way to handle this is to enroll in a program from a legitimate College or University that has a campus, library, accreditation, and standing in the academic community and take as many courses as they allow you online.

The recommendation for University of Wisconsin is an excellent one. Also, I know for a fact that the Texas State U. programs are totally legitimate. Villanova also has a respected program. However, you have to take at least one course on campus.

I have met only one person in my career who actually got a job using a totally online college degree - and that was for a desperate employer in the sticks of North Dakota.
Please be certain that you attend a college that is fully accredited by a regional accrediting association. There are other kinds of accreditation but this is the kind of accreditation you need to be able to transfer credits or have them recognized by an employer. You will find a list of these accrediting bodies at this site: http://www.worldwidelearn.com/accreditat...

Some online institutions make misleading statements about their accreditation, so beware.
From a student's point of view, the University of Wisconsin has an excellent online section. I am currently going to school on UW-Online, and love it. It is challenging and very respected. Some online "colleges" are a joke; they steal your money and your dreams.

But I truly recommend the University of Wisconsin. They are fairly inexpensive and their degrees are respected world-wide.
Strayer University is very reputable, is regionally accredited, but can be a little pricey. But sometimes you get what you pay for.
