Does anyone know how much money online teacher or professors make?
Question:
Answer:
Hi there, I'm from Canada, but I, too, was looking into e-learning which is the wave of the future I think! I got really excited about it and talked to someone involved in e-learning about becoming an e-learning instructor at the University where I work.
My interest began when I started taking a few courses online and realized how great it would be to be an online instructor.
Anyway, I have a BA, but he recommended or said it was necessary to have an MBA and be an expert at something you can teach. So you're set there!
But he told me the pay for online instructors is not the greatest because you really aren't recognized for being a true professor or instructor, unless of course you also teach in the traditional classroom. I asked him about salary and this was a couple years ago, but he said somewhere in the $25000-30000/yr CAN range or thereabouts. As a part-time income to supplement something else, I think that would be fine.
Note, too, that I think online learning is more popular at this point in the States, and there may also be differences in salaries and how recognized you are for being an online prof.
As you can see by my links, I went the online business route instead!
Hope that helps!

I have heard that it is not much - about $600 per class. It's not bad considering you don't really have to do any work. But if you take education seriously, UOP is not the place for you. Basically you just take the canned curriculum, show a powerpoint slide, and lead a classroom bull session every week.
