Online Textbook for College?

Question:
I have the opportunity to design a website for a textbook. The professor/author envisions the site as a student portal for online study or homework help; possibly with additional animated guidance not possible in the print edition.

I need to find examples that are currently online to guide me in the design process. URLs would be nice.

Answer:
You do not specify the subject area. So here is some general advice. Take the top 3 or 4 texts in your area (your professor can tell you what they are) and pick the major publishers from that list (McGraw Hill, Prentice Hall, Houghton Mifflin etc). Most of these have well developed web support for students and you can log in as a student. Alternatively, your professor can get log in privileges most of the times. Look at what is there already and then design your
portal. Here is one URL:

Good luck!
