Is it okay if my high school transcript arrives to the university before the online application is submitted?

Question:
My school has a policy where the guidance counselor has to send all your academic records for you. I give them a stamped envelop and they send everything in it. I'm wondering if I should submit the online application before I give the envelope in. Does it matter which one arrives first? Do colleges have a preference?

Answer:
That's not a big deal. I have worked in the admissions office of a college. That happens all the time. The only thing that might happen is that if you wait too long to fill out the online application, they may contact you to try and 'recruit' you as they know you are a potential student with interest.

Unless your university specifies otherwise, mailing the info out first should not be a problem. Plus, you may have the time to fill out the application before the academic records even arrive.
It doesn't matter. If they get the transcript first they will start a file and wait for the app to come in.
I don't know that it really matters, as long as everything gets turned in. But I would go ahead and do the online application that way there's no confusion if they get your transcript ahead of anything else. They can start a file on you and just add to it as they get more of your paperwork.
This is not a problem.

What matters most is that the application be submitted on time. Supporting materials are usually given some extra time since those are not in the student's hand.
