Would I be able to use my FAFSA aid for more than one school?

Question:
I'm considered an "independent" so I know pretty much know for a fact that I'm getting free schooling. What I'm wondering is, can I use my FAFSA for two different colleges that I plan to attend at the same time? An online college FT and a community college also FT. Do you think then it would change the EFC if I did attend two schools?

Answer:
When you complete your online FAFSA there is a place where you can pick the schools to send it to. Just fill out the form and you will see. Why don't you use the Community College online classes instead of going to 2 schools?
I have the same issue. From all that I have been told there is no way to extend the Fin Aid to more than one university. There are several ways around this though.
I attend a private university, but I also attend a community college because of the wide variety of night classes they have. What I do is register for full time classes at the private university, wait until my Fin Aid has gone through, and then drop those classes. The "refunded" Fin Aid from those classes goes into my bank account and I use that to pay for my community college classes.
I know of someone else at another university that just authorizes any left over Fin Aid to go into her bank account. This would work if your school does not adjust your Fin Aid package up and down based on your actual school bill.
If you do anything like this make sure you pay attention to drop dates and such.
You can use your Federal Financial Aid at both schools but you cannot use the same ones or the same amounts. Ex: You can use Pell and Work study at one, then any state grants at the other but you cannot use all of them at bth schools at the same time. I may be possible for you to split the aid between the schools but it will not cover FT status.
you can get financial aid at two different schools at the same time. Attending two schools does not affect your efc, only your overall income. So, if you have a zero efc then you should take only 12 credits per semester than take 24. though, you will get the max in aid, if you don't do well you can lose it and have to do good through an appeal process that could be hard (depending on the school). I suggest take your time and do not rush.
I would talk to the financial aid counselor at the school about this. At first I was thinking that you couldn't do that, but after I thought about it a little bit I realized that I did that when I was in college. During a couple of terms I took a few classes at the University and another one at the junior college. I don't remember how exactly it worked out but I know I used the financial aid because I got through school on grants and loans. It's definitely worth looking into, especially because schools like junior colleges are a lot less expensive than universities.
Sorry hon, when you qualify for a grant, they will only allow you to use the funds at college/univeristy per semester/quarter/tri-mester. I know, I tried.
