Online schooling?
Question:
Answer:
Without a doubt, continuing your education is a very SMART and wise investment - good for you. As a caveat, check with the Education Center at whatever installation you are stationed BEFORE you enroll. This way you can verify that the college you want to attend is covered by your branch tuition assistance program. Also, you may find that there is an embedded university at the education center where you can attend actual classes and receive credit/degree from them. I know that Florida, Boston College and Texas A&M as well as several other well established schools provide sattelite programs to numerous installations. Just check in with the Ed Center before you proceed. Good luck and I thank you for your service.
AS long as it is accredited you should be good to go. If joining the air force, you are required to enroll in their community college, and those courses are allready conducted online for the most part. Online learning is fast becoming the norm even at regular universities..

I have an associates degree from taking on-line courses. It is possible. You have to be disciplined and put your effort into it though. Currently the military pays 100% tuition for college. The Navy just increased from 12 credit hours to 16 credit hours per year that they will pay for. When you get to your first duty station you'll go through indoctrination, and the college services office will do a presentation. Take advantage of college in military. I don't know about Air Force, but Navy has what's called Million dollar sailor during indoc. They have financial advisers show how to put away money, talk about the TSP (Thrift savings plan), and education benefits available. Pay attention in this portion of indoc, can help u have money put away when you get out, if not when u retire.
There are many ways to continue your education while in the military. Many bases offer regular college classes while on base. University of Phoenix offers great programs for military as well. Most schools have a veterans or military adviser or counsel to help you.
UMUC, University of Maryland University College. They really have a great online program and they make you work for your degree so no one can say you took the easy way out with an online degree. Not to mention that UMUC sends professors to different bases to teach courses so you can take face to face classes as well. They are regionally accredited.
