Has anyone been ripped off by University of Phoenix Online?
Question:
Answer:
I don't really have advice but I have heard that the whole thing is a rip off. It's more expensive than State schools and they don't have any overhead costs for campus usage or housing costs. And on top of that online colleges don't have the credibility that "real" schools have.
You have just joined a growing number of dissatisfied customers. check out www.uopsucks.com/ for a support group. I've never had the pleasure of attending UofP.
I did not get ripped off - primarily because my company paid for my UoP experience, but I am still left with the feeling of being cheated. I don't consider myself more than an average writer, but I received A's throughout all my classes. While I think that I am fairly intelligent - comparitively speaking, it would appear that both myself and all of my classmates throughout the program were geniuses because we all received A's. This makes it appear to be that this is nothing more than a paper mill. They take money (paper) and convert it into a degree (more paper). As long as you jump through their hoops, you will get your piece of paper with a college degree (or MBA in my case).
I attended UOP Online and didn't have to pay for it. I still felt ripped off. There is a huge community who hates UOP, you're not alone. Most recently they're in trouble for accounting fraud, embezzelment, various employees getting kick backs, EC's fraudulently filling out financial aid paperwork for their students, EC's logging into class for their students, employees going into the classes and stealing papers and assignments and posting them as their own, etc. The US Justice Department is checking this out as well.
I'd be happy to give you advice, but would need to hear more about your situation.
