Has anyone participated in an online education program such as Univeristy of Phoenix?
Question:
Answer:
Many of the state universities offer online degrees. I believe these degrees hold more clout than one from University of Phoenix. University of Phoenix is an accredited institution but many people are still leery of their program.
University of Phoenix offers classes which are cohort based. This means the class can be either a set 6 or 8 weeks (or whatever the length is) and then as soon as the class is complete you can enroll in another class and not have to wait for the next semester to start. They also have classes which you can take at your own pace. You can complete the class in a short period of time (4 weeks) or take longer (1 year) and you are not bound by the traditional semester.
For instance:
University of Texas offers many online degrees completely online and your degree will come from University of Texas (http://www.telecampus.utsystem.edu/index... These classes are semester based.
Northwestern State University in Louisiana offers semester based programs in Criminal Justice and Psychology (http://www.nsula.edu/ece/ensu.asp). NSU does not charge out of state fees for online students.
LeTourneau University in Texas offers traditional semester based and cohort based programs. These classes are accelerated (which means they are between 4 and 8 weeks longs). (http://www.letu.edu/opencms/opencms/futu...
I would look online for a University in your area and see what types of degrees they offer online before making your decision.
I used American Intercontinental University online. It had some very tough cirriculuum and I would recommend it. I have heard the University of Phoenix is the most expensive.
I'm attending UPO. Its harder than I thought it would be. A lot of work. But worth it. It is expensive but financial aid is available. Good luck.
If you are considering doing University of Phoenix online, then you might also consider two other alternatives: Capella University and Walden University in Minneapolis, MN. Both of their programs are completely online. They are accredited and have difficult courses.
I recently completed my graduate degree from Capella and it got me a job with a six figure base salary. Your mileage may vary.
