Umm, I don't remember how old the solar system is, but it will die in billion years. When the sun dies it will become a black hole.
Sun dies in billions of years...
5 billion years ti;; sun destruction, universe is 4.5 billion years old
Solar system is about 4-5 billion years old, the sun will die in about the same amt of time, it will become a Super Nova
this is not a answer but more of a comment on the question if the earth is going to be melted by our sun why are we so into saving it wouldn't it be better to go extinct than get our flesh burnt off our bones
Please refer to one of my best answers on this topic, about three months ago. It was long and detailed and I can't type it all over again. But it was the best, so it's worth your time to look it up. Enjoy!
Our solar system is approximately 4.5- 5.0-billion years old. The sun is expected to 'die' in about another 4.5-billion years, and will end its life as a white dwarf star with a diameter about the same as Earth's current diameter. Just before shrinking to the white dwarf stage, the sun will expand into a red giant and almost certainly engulf Mercury, Venus, and Earth.
Our solar system's about 15 billion years old.
