Atheist please explain?
Question:
Everything does *NOT* work in "harmony together". Have you seen galactic collisions, a zebra kill by a pride of lions, a wasp being eaten from the inside, aircraft slamming into the WTC and people killing each other over their GODS!
cliff notes plz
Easy for you to say, because you personally see it. Some atheists don't, and even some do (see the order in everything.)
You should try seeing things from both perspectives, and then you will understand why people who don't believe in God think the way they do. I can understand both sides, and I have been on both sides.
One side always prevails, and for me it was Christianity. The reason you ask? Because I knew, to me, it was right. God has never failed me. I've been spoken to by God once before, and I will be again. But looking at it from an atheistic point of view, I'd have to say I am absolutely crazy or delusional. But you wouldn't say that, because you also know it is a miracle. But that's just between us.
Understand what I mean?
Ah my dear old friend the anthropic principle. Look it up on Wikipedia.
Edit:
And my old companion, ignorance.
The only way you would be here is if everything did work out just right, yes the anthropic principle is not science it is axiomatic.
umm their IS A GOD
It's all very beautiful yes. But I believe since everything in the universe can be explained. God cannot. And I cannot believe that something inexplicable can explain something so concrete.
And what hard evidence of a god might you have?
Im not an Atheist but GOD DID IT!
saying "god did it" is just lazy. If it was up to people like you the people would've never found out what caused earthquakes and disease because you'll would've been complacent with the "god did it" explanation.
Oh yeah, everything works fine. Yep, stars explode, life dies, people can't seem to agree on anything . . . just like GOD wanted it.
so why cant the higher power can be quantum physics, it explains a lot.and we are still very 'new' when it comes to explaining the scientific things that happen in the universe
coincidence.
hmm
a better question would be..
if there WAS a god.. how come you still cant spell?
i mean.. like you said. "everything in the universe works in harmony together" (looks like you dont fit in?)
Punctuation can be your friend.
Have you seen asteroid belts? Things don't "work in harmony" all the time. There are black holes, quaasars and all kinds of devistation on scales we can't imagine.
As an atheist I don't claim it all popped into being from chaos. No atheist does. Things that don't work, don't survive. Things that DO work, build on success until you have a workable system --- which took billions of years.
for one dude, i believe in god. And i believe in the word of god. However what i dont believe in is the big bang and evolution. what is in the bible, is that every creature and the whole universe what created in 7 days. not billions, not millions.
I for one am skeptical of how the universe formed, but the big bang theory makes a alot more sense than some supreme being created everything. And if you actually studied science, alot of pieces come together.
If everything in the universe worked in perfect harmony, how come it takes so much lube when you take it up the a*s? Is God responsible for that?
How can you think this "god created the world" thing started by itself?
cuz that would be jumping to conclusions, you theorize that there is a God but you cannot prove it. Now with the concept of Chrisitanity, there are paradoxes and fallacies left and right disproving that it is real.
That's a good reason to not believe in any God.
A super entity all powerful, all perfect, all selfish.? NA!
Because even if we bought into your unsupported assertion that everything in the universe works in harmony, that in no way proves a god exists. Nothing in the universe leads any body with a lick of common sense to believe that god did it.
Do you really want to posit a god created this universe? You might want to do A LOT more thinking on that. What god would allow meteorites to plow into our planet and kill of 95% of all the living things? Or how about tornado's, and volcanic eruptions or earthquakes or deadly tsunamis, deadly diseases? All these things god created to kill us, his prized accomplishments? Some loving god you suck teet to.
The problem is you religious types are always trying to shove the god idea down everyones throat. Let people come to their own conclusion on their own terms. Besides whether god exists or not does not matter, just look at the current state of the world, obviously believing in god has gotten us nowhere. The only thing that matters is the here and now. Lets worry about making humanity a more peaceful and loving race, then we can concentrate on the afterlife. Even if what you say is true then something had to have created your god as well. Ahhhh check and mate!!
Have you ever even thought that life might just be harmonious without a creator?
Has it ever crossed your mind that there might not be a God?
The need for a god is a psychological response that helps the brain cope with our demise. EVERYONE likes to think that they are more then they are. It is the basis for most dreams, tv shows, and movies. A dog that can tell you that little jimmy is hurt in a rivine, that Clark Kent is a superhero, etc... Logic if foregone for a belief that we are not finite.
You have a question ("why is the universe like it is") with a false answer. You are using the "god of the gaps" as your answer. If you can't explain something, you throw god in there as the solution.
Your conclusion does not make sense, as god is not the logical answer to your question. god is not even AN answer to your question for many reasons. The most obvious, is that living things evolve from simple to complex. To have something start as so complex that is can create an entire universe defines the word impossible.
Think about the power that being would have to have in order to create an entire universe. To create planets, stars, hydrogen, water, plants, atoms, molecules, quarks, tachyons, blood cells, bugs, cosmic radiation, and on and on and on. Literally impossible. And then to think that such a being would create people like us and actually care about us is the ultimate conceit. The more we find out about the universe the more impossible the existence of god becomes.
Sorry, but there really is no god. god was invented by man to help explain his surroundings a long time ago. There is no more need for such a fantasy being now.
It's called nature.
A modern version of, "if there is no God, why don't the stars fall down on us?" I see...
The cosmological tuning argument is pretty silly. It's like saying, "There must be a God because everything is the way it is, and if it weren't, it would be another way. But it isn't, so there is a God. Oh, and, he's intimately concerned with our sex lives."
C'mon.
My long-winded friend, everything happened without god.
why do you people always have to be troublemakers?
Why can't you leave people to their own devices and let them believe what they want too?
Personally I don't care if there is or isn't a deity that created everything. It makes no difference to me, but I just really wish that I didn't have to hear you people piss and moan about other people not believing what you believe.
This is America, we ALL have the right to believe or dis-believe what we want.
Sir, atheists don't want to believe in GOD, or come to GOD for the same reason a criminal doesn't want to come to a policeman... people that reject GOD want to live their lives however they choose and they are repulsed by the idea of being held accountable to GOD after they die, Jn 3:19. GOD put the knowledge of himself inside every human being, one must suppress that "knowing" or foolishly reason it away to disbelieve in GOD... furthermore the word says that we can know that GOD 'is' by everything that HE created,Rom 1:18-20. ~GOD BLESS YOU RICHLY IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD, AMEN AND SO BE IT~
