Is it possible to power a home PC on solar power only?
Question:
Answer:
You could power anything by solar power if only you had to 'know how'...
it depends on how much solar power you can gather.
but yes if you can get enough
yes
yes, a friend of mine has only solar and uses both a desktop and a laptop. However, he has a large solar system; a small system may not be able to handle it.
Yes,
12 volt system
Panels keep auto batteries fresh, use an "inverter" use the 120 AC
to power your confuser.
Have fun!

heck yeah, it all depends on how much money you may have. you can power your house nowadays.
Hello,
a typical full desktop PC today, consumes about 500 Watts. Solar cells produce DC voltage, with a relatively small loadability (that is, you can only connect things that require small currents -> small things). 500 Watts is a medium-class consumer in the range of household appliances.
To produce this power, you need *huge* (couple of square metres) solar cells. Another thing to consider is, that the power of sunlight is varying according to daytime and wheater or season of the year. Of course at nights you are in trouble, too :D
To answer your question: it is possible to use solar power only. You should charge batteries with the solar cell (you need a boost converter that converts the solar cell voltage into charging voltage), and you need a voltage inverter that makes AC from DC voltage to supply the desktop PC.During nights, if you had enough power to charge batteries and supply the PC, the reserves you have in your batteries can be used to supply the PC in the evening.
So it's possible, but you don't want that :D :D :D
But not bad for idea.
