Why is there a perfect solar eclipse?
Question:
Answer:
The reason why we can experience a "perfect" Solar Eclipse is because of a wonderful phenomenon that the moon, covering a space of 1/2 degree of the night sky (at about 240,000 miles distance) is also 400 times smaller than our Sun at 93,000,000 miles distance. To put it in easier language, the Moon is 240,000 miles away...the Sun is 93,000,000 miles away. But since the Sun is 400 times larger than the Moon, the Sun must be at 93,000,000 miles away in order to make the EXACT SIZE of 1/2 degree in our sky. Both the Moon and the Sun cover a place in the sky of 1/2 of a degree because of the phenomenon of both the sizes and distances of the Moon and Sun from the Earth. But this isn't just some phenomenon that occured by the nature of the Solar System...but rather just further PROOF that our Almighty Creator God both Created these heavenly bodies and placed them in the firmanent of the heavens exactly as He "planned".
A cosmic coincidence allows for the perfect solar eclipse. This is because the size of the lunar disk as it can be seen from the earth is approximately the same size as that of the solar disk as seen from the earth. You are correct that all this is possible because of the size of the moon and the distance of the earth to the sun and of course the size of the sun.
Wherever you are on the earth the moon would look the same size. On TV and the movies certain photography tricks can show the moon to be very big compared to what we are used to.
Moon is Closer to the Earth, Therefore, even being millions time smaller than Earth it seems As Big or bigger than Sun.
So When It Between The Earth and Sun, It Cast Shadow on a part of a earth, Where People See Eclipse.
Beyond That Part of the Earth, Adjoining regions see partial solar eclipse.
To Experiment, Stand Far from a bulb, hold marblr straight in line of the eye. Marble, Even Though Being Much Smaller, it seems to hide the bulb while we see some light (like Corona).
Also Move marble little Left-Right, U will observe Partial Solar Eclipse.
This Will Help U Understand.
Yes, It Is as Big in US as In India.
Actually, moon revolves in oval orbit, therefore it is bigger when it is near, and it seems smaller when it is far.
the moon looks about the same size from anywhere on earth, although there is an optical illusion that makes it look bigger when it is near the horizon. there is also a 14% variance in its distance from the earth, so that causes some variance also. even though the moon is much smaller than the sun, it appears the same size in the sky because it is closer to the earth than the sun, it is just a coincidence that they happen to look the same size in the sky. millions of years ago, the moon used to look much larger in the sky, because it used to be closer to the earth than it is now. millions of years from now, it will look smaller, because it continues to drift further away from the earth.
