How is solar energy beneficial to humans?
Question:
Answer:
Solar energy is a success story. It already supplies electricity to several hundred thousand people around the world, provides employment for over ten thousand and generates business worth more than $1 billion dollars. In the future, the pace of change and progress could be even more rapid as the solar industry unlocks its hidden promise.
The benefits of solar power are compelling: environmental protection, economic growth, job creation, diversity of fuel supply and rapid deployment, as well as the global potential for technology transfer and innovation.
The underlying advantage of solar energy is that the fuel is free, abundant and inexhaustible. The total amount of energy irradiated from the sun to the earth’s surface is enough to provide more than 10,000 times the annual global energy consumption. Yet these benefits remain largely untapped; most energy decisions taken today overlook solar power as a modular technology which can be rapidly deployed to generate electricity close to the point of consumption. Phasing in solar photovoltaics therefore requires a shift from centralised to decentralised power production, offering far greater control to individual consumers.
In my schooling i have studied that solar energy gives vitamin 'D' through by our skin where ercostral reacts with sun light.
The energy from the sun is vital for humans. Here are some ways in which humans benefit from the sun:
1. Planet earth would be uninhabitable without the warmth from the sun. It would be a frozen wasteland and its air would be frozen.
2. Almost all vegetation on earth depends on the sun. Without vegetation, humans would have no oxygen in their air to breathe, and no food to eat.
3. Vitamn D comes from sunlight
4. Some power is being produced directly from the sun, using photovoltaics and other techniques
5. Some of the radiation from the sun probably is responsible for some of the mutations that help drive evolution, that probably resulted in humans
6. Tidal forces from the sun (and the moon) help drive the dynamo which creates the earth's magnetic field. This field not only provides an aid to navigation but it helps form a protective barrier from charged material bombarding the earth from the sun and the cosmos.
7. Without the light from the sun, humans would be unable to see much unless their eyes adapted new capabilities like those of some nocturnal animals, or used artificial lighting. This would make life much harder.
and so on
