How do solar covers work on a pool? what is the theory?
Question:
Answer:
solar cover allows heat in the form of sunlight down to the water, but then reflects that heat back down again, not letting it escape from the cover, thus raising the temp of your pool
Two ways. Since they are black, they absorb the heat from sun light and transfer that to the water. And by covering the water, they prevent evaporation, which would cool the water.
I had a solar cover and hated the darn thing. Too much trouble taking it on and off. Never seemed to hold in heat or gather heat and transfer the heat to the pool. I invested in solar panels this year . . . wonderful investment. Even a liquid solar blanket seems to work better than a solar cover.
they act like a cloud cover and keep heat from radiating out of the water... they also keep wildlife out of the water..
