When will the lunar and solar eclipse will occur in the philippines?
Question:
Answer:
Hi Hanzz!
Your next eclipse will be in this August. The Philippines will see a total lunar eclipse starting at sunset the evening of Tuesday August 28th, 2007. The moon will rise just as the total eclipse is beginning. Those in Mindanao with a clear view of the eastern horizon will see the final bite of the eclipsed moon rise, then be blotted out by the earth's shadow. On Luzon, the lunar disc will already be submerged before it rises.
All over the Philippines, watch as the sky grows darker. Gradually, the ghostly image of the moon will win out over the fading twilight, until about a half-hour after sunset you'll be able to see the eclipsed moon.
Totality lasts until 7:22 p.m. Philippines Time. After that, you'll be able to watch the partial eclipse of the moon for another hour as moon re-emerges into the sunlight. The partial eclipse ends at 8:23 p.m. Philippines Time.
Filipinos may see a few minutes of the partial eclipse of the sun January 26, 2009, but the partial phase starts only a few minutes before sunset, so you're unlikely to notice anything.
You'll get a better view of the partial solar eclipse July 22, 2009. As much as 60% of the solar disc will be covered around 10 a.m. at the northern tip of Luzon, but less than 25% in southern Mindanao.
The very southern tip of Mindanao will be under an annular eclipse of the sun on December 26, 2019. The next total solar eclipse, however, will not be until the morning of April 20, 2042.
When the moon get its airplane ticket
Looks like there will be a good Total Lunar Eclipse visible from the Philippines in 2011, on December 10 to be precise.
The next time a Total Solar Eclipse path passes over the Philippines is in 2042, on April 20. There is also a Total Solar Eclipse on July 22, 2009 where the path passes over China and then curves out over the Pacific, brushing the southern Japanese islands.
