Solar System Questions. Please help?

Question:
1. Why did scientists developed units of distance to measure the universe?

22. What are the four characteristics of planetary orbits?

31. Why aren’t comets always visible. What causes them to be visible?

34. What are the 3 zones of the Sun. Where does nuclear fusion occur?

35. What arethe 3 parts of the outer layer of the Sun?

39. What is the core of the ozone in our atmosphere. What chemical substance is responsible for diminishing our ozone layer?

Can someone please answer those && number it with whichever answer you answer. I've answers majority of my questions I had but those are the few I couldnt find. I couldnt find 6 out of 41 questions. Can someone please help me answer those?

Answer:
you should email Robin the astronomer! He is astro on here.
He helps people in email all the time with this. He is cool !! sends you cool cool stuff and loves to help !

what do you mean by

What is the core of the ozone in our atmosphere
1 when you are talking about the vast, VAST, distances between the galaxies miles just ain't going to cut it. not unless your comfortable with measurments with dozens of digits.

22 Keplers first law of planetary motion states that "an orbit is an elipse with the sun at one of the two focuses. imagine an elipse. the sun would be equidistant from the end that is nearest to and 90 degrees to its' left.

Keplers second law states that "a planet sweeps out equal areas in equal times. I'll explain: the further the planet is away from the sun the slower it travels. If you could mark a point on the elipse and then say a month later drop another point again and draw lines from the points to the sun then between the arc of the elipse and the 2 lines that you've drawn there is (sort of) a triangle. The area of any triangles drawn like this will have the exact same area because when the planet is closer to the sun it travels faster therefore covering more space and therefore increasing the area of the triangle.

31 comets aren't always visible because they simply need to be near the sun in order to make all the gas and dust around them glow and they spend very little time in the inner solar system.

34 & 35. sorry, I'm not much on the anatomy of stars.

A)I don't understand what you mean by "core". ozone is O3. it's a gas. it's way up in our atmosphere.
B)one thing that bonds with it and therefore pulls it out of the sky are Chlorofluorocarbons ( CFCs )
1) Well, the earth is approx 93,000,000 miles away from the sun. This length has been given the term 1 AU. it's less writing to represent a larger number. A light year is the distance light travels in one year moving at approx 186,000miles per second. Now, 186000*60*60*24*365 equals a really long number. Again is it easier to write 1 ly.
A parsec is another example of a huge distance that can be written with a much easier term of reference.

31) Comets being mostly ice get melted when exposed to sufficient amounts of the Sun's energy. The melting stuff trails out away from the comet core directly opposite the Sun. [The Tail does not necessarily show the direction of travel of the comet. The tail is what is easily visible, not the core. If the core in its long orbit around the Sun is not close enough, there will be no tail.

34) 3? hmm, there's the core, photosphere, chromosphere and corona. Now, between the core and the photosphere there is the radiative zone and convective zone, but I cannot think of a 3rd "zone". Nuclear fusion occurs in the core.
