Is there a new planet found in our solar system, or in another solar system?
Question:
Answer:
It's 20.5 light years away... been there for quite a while :)
Significance: Now that our technology is allowing us to locate smaller extra solar planets, we have an increased understanding of how many possible "earth like" planets are out there... and there's hope that we'll find a truly earth-like planet someday in the near vicinity of Earth.

It was found to be circling a nearby star. Has nothing to do with our solar system.
In late April of 2007, there was an announcement of the discovery of a planet made of rock and ice in a different solar system within the Milky Way galaxy.
Of course, there is also much debate about whether this newly discovered planet might also harbor life, and many scientists are claiming that the planet is located in what many refer to as the "habitable zone" for life. Unfortunately, there are a number of factors required other than "being in the zone" to qualify as such a candidate.
Time will tell.
