Ive always wondered what the use of a solar powered torch is, I mean, if the suns out, why the hell would you need a torch?

It would be as useful as a chocolate fire guard.

maybe even get it engraved with 'Love, Your Name'
If I were you, I would asked him what he liked.
Buy him whatever you think is essential or something that he really wanted for sometime that would make his day, whatever the cost he would appreciate it with love and affection, remember it's the thought that counts.
