Does solar flux have a positive or negitive effect on ham radio?
Question:
Answer:
The first two answers are wrong. Ask a ham. The more spots that are on the sun, the better it is for ham radio in the HF spectrum, which is the lower frequencies, from 0-30 megahertz, that is referred to the upper bands, 160,80,75,40,30,17,15,12,and 10 meters. Sunspots or the sun has no effect on frequencies above the 2 meter band (144 megahertz).
The higher the flux, the better the propagation and the higher the frequency you can use...
I hope this answers your question...
The higher the flux, the better the propagation and the higher the frequency you can use. We should hit our minimum next year.
Wow, I just learned this ealier this week! Oddly enough appearantly the more sunspots you have the better for ham radio! I heard right now is really good. My husband has just joined a club and is studying for his license.
Good Luck!
