How do I get a solar panel? Can I use it at home?

Question:
If I can, what uses does this energy can have at home?

Answer:
Back in the day.... before the '80's even.. a mag called "Mother Earth News" that gave all sorts of instructions on solar power and how to build/maintain your set up-- They do have a web site-- The motherearthnews.com and even a google of the mag will get some information. They built one solar waterheater I remember out of black plastic, alumium cans, wood and glass-- quite achievable for the average folk.
Be sure and check out your power company-- here in Oklahoma the power company has to buy your excess electricity-- I'm sure there are all sorts of rules-- but check it out.

good luck
There are a lot of places to get solar panels. The easiest way to have it at home is to contact an alternative energy contractor in your area. If you want to do it yourself, the REAL GOODS and BACKWOODS SOLAR AND ELECTRIC catalogs have a lot of options and instructions. We have two solar systems, one on our business, and one on our home. We live in the northeast and don't get all that much sun, especially in winter, but our output for our smaller systems (one is 3.4 Kw and one is 6.8 Kw) was around 15 to 20 kilowatt hours per day in the winter, but during the winter, we average about 45 -50, so we are still tied into the grid . We are working on ways to remedy this. The systems are very expensive, but most states have grants to help pay for installation.
solar panels can create electricity or used to heat water.
the electric ones produce direct current a positive ans a negative, you have alternate current in your home right now, you also require converters DC to AC and a swithch to power at night or storage batteries. it is not that simple and it is not cheap as far as the initial investment then you save money nicely.
Home Depot and they install the solar panel for you.

The cheapest, easiest way to harness solar energy for the home, at least in my experience is , buy a reasonably sized solar kit. 45 watt kits can be found for $170-$200, second you can use a car battery but since you already had to replace it it likely isn't any good anymore so investing in a deep cycle batterry is a good bet, I personally wired all my exterior lights directly to the battery( a deep cycle huge RV battery) using 12 volt leds, and also have an internal inverter/powerpack from Xanrax for powering my internal lights and TV/ Satellight when the power goes out. It works great when the power goes out I'm the only house on the block with power, so I've been having power out block parties. Also all the heavy Items Panels/ battery is built on a small trailer that I load my kayaks on for camping so I always have power when i camp. It's not a good idea to have 12 volt lead acid batteries inside as when you charge them they can give off hydrogen gas, which is harmless vented outside but inside could build up to explosive levels. The best statup kit is linkedbelow, they have always been great about guickly shipping. The first is for the solar kit, the second is for the leds
my mother recently change over the electric nicknacks in our side yard with very cheap solar alternatives from places such as walmart. cheap way to start the change over.

Home Depot will set it all up for you!
SolSum makes some really efficient systems for solar cell energy sources. They are used for electrical production, and can run everything in your house that uses electricity, including air conditioning, refridgerators, and televisions.

Their systems includ the cells, electrical regulators, and storage batteries. They are efficient enough to run an average household even on a cloudy day, and can still recharge the batteries even when the skies have been overcast for weeks in end.

I hope this helps.
you can probably get a solar panel from your home energy source it will be exspensive but it stops your energy bill forever so in the long run you save tons of money
