Solar screens?

Question:
is there a cheaper alternative to solar screens?

Answer:
You could probably get some curtains that would hold "some" of the heat out, but not like sunscreens. I have them on the front of my house that faces west. They are great. We also have them on some windows here at the church where I work. It cuts down on the heat from west sun in the afternoons. They work great and last along time. I've had mine up for 4 years and the ones at the church have been up at least 6 years.
My "guerrilla" solution was to use silver spray paint on the backs of my pull down shades. Reflect it right back where it came from..
I don't have a clue if it would be cheaper..
but lowes and home depot do have window tint that sticks right on. I get the feeling that it's suposed to be permanent. And it is very dark for the "energy star" kind. It looked like it would be a pain to put on too.
good luck!
