How many planets are there in the Solar system?

Question:
and what r they?

Answer:
right now there are 8, because of the drop of pluto, but there will soon be 11 because theyw ill be adding 3 more, 2003 UB313, and 2 otrhers i dont know off the top of my head
More than we know.
till now 8 (pluto is out.)
8! poor poor pluto was ousted. mercury, venus, earth, mars, jupiter, saturn, neptune, uranus
9

cause no pluto now

i 4got the names

search in yahoo
currently only eight:

mercury, venus, earth, mars, jupiter , saturn, uranus, neptune
More than we know
10.....
I guess there are 8 now that Pluto has been "downgraded". So that would be Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. It's hard not to say "Pluto".
as of now, only 8 are being considered. it was recently discovered that pluto is just a dwarf.
Eight now. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
BILLIONS BILLIONS BILLIONS
8
There are presently eight planets, because recently the scintists and astronomers have voted out PLUTO.
R u joking?? mercury venus earth mars pluto jupiter uranus saturn neptune 9 der idiot
how old are you?I'm 10 years old. There are nine planets in our Solar System. The Planets are: Mercury,Venus,Earth,Mars,Jupit... Pluto is being demoted.
Nw its 8.. I think 3 more will add soon to the list
One less than it was 2 days ago!
One less than there was a month ago... ;o)
We don't actually know as we haven't explored the WHOLE, WIDE, ENOR MOUS, galaxy. So, we can't be sure.

PS: There's 8/9/10,you being a FOOL? (The next one is now being researched)
The solar system consists of the Sun; the eight official planets, at least three "dwarf planets", more than 130 satellites of the planets, a large number of small bodies (the comets and asteroids), and the interplanetary medium. (There are probably also many more planetary satellites that have not yet been discovered.)
The inner solar system contains the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.
The main asteroid belt lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The planets of the outer solar system are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune (Pluto is now classified as a dwarf planet):
The first thing to note is that the solar system is mostly empty space. The planets are very small compared to the space between them.
The orbits of the planets are ellipses with the Sun at one focus, though all except Mercury are very nearly circular. The orbits of the planets are all more or less in the same plane (called the ecliptic and defined by the plane of the Earth's orbit). The ecliptic is inclined only 7 degrees from the plane of the Sun's equator. They all orbit in the same direction (counter-clockwise looking down from above the Sun's north pole); all but Venus, Uranus and Pluto also rotate in that same sense.
Still 9 inspite of pluto losing planet status since one more planet is proposed to be added , and i think its named xena
Only 8 now...Pluto just lost planetary status!!
nine planets in the solar system turn around oust one out darn it it doesnt rhyme but whatever theres only 8
simple there are 9 planets but 1 more is found. it means 10 planets
according to the new definition of planets,a planet is celestial body that is in orbit around the sun,has sufficient mass for its self gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a round shape and has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit..so now there r 8..pluto is out..
Good timing! When I was in school, we were taught that there were 9 planets in our Solar system (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto).
Recently a group of professional astronomers has been wrestling with new ways to define what a planet is. I don't know how many there are now (I have heard several numbers, 12 being the most frequent), but Pluto is definitely out.

8. as pluto is out now
i think its around 8 , what u think
DUDE.. as of now.. they have ousted Pluto from the scene and they are planning to include 3 more new planets.. 1)an asteroid between the orbits of mercury and venus by the name of Ceres i believe, 2)then another heavenly body names Xena( which is farther than Pluto) and finally 3)one of the moons of Pluto,Charon.. but i guess they will exclude Charon too now.. since pluto is no longer a planet...
So the planets will soon be.. Mercury,Ceres,Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Xena
