Is Pluto still a planet of the solar system?
Question:
Answer:
It looks as though a hand full of eggheads got together and have made up their minds that Pluto is no longer a planet. Who in the hell do they think they are? If the majority wants it to be a planet then as far as I'm concerned it still is.
of course it is...its just smaller than other planets...
It's a minor planet.
No..for now Pluto is actually called a 'dwarf planet' due to its size. For this Its no longer a part of the solar system. But three new planets have been added. So that makes 11..
ya, thats true, vry true, infact, it was being dicided since a long time back, but the scientist were not so sure. and it had also came into hearing, that 3 mor new planets have been discovered, and they wud get the degree of a 'planet', soon.
no cos it was too small.
i read an article yesterday that scientist had declared pluto not a planet, may have been on yahoo, it should be easy to find though
Pluto was declared a palnet in 1930 but few days ago it was decided not to call it a planet anymore bcoz its quite small and resembles a comet besides that its orbit overlaps neptune's orbit.
Well, Pluto is still a part of our solar system - it didn't get mad and pack it's bags and zoom off to another galaxy! :) Pluto has simply been reclassified as a "dwarf planet".
Yes, I believe that the number of planets is now 8 and I don't think it is a bad thing. Once people understand that Pluto isn't "gone", they may be more willing to try to learn why Pluto was reclassified.
According to IAU, the Pluto is still planet in our solar system, and not yet being removed from the list. Only most of the Astronomers scientist believe that Pluto is not a planet no more and everyone believe what they had found. Maybe in 2 more years the Pluto will be completly removed from the list.
This happen when they found the SEDNA planet which is similar to Pluto. However SEDNA eclipse is like asteroid. So now they doubt how to declare a planet. SO EVERYTHING IS ON HOLD.
Yes it is, just really small on the edge of the solar system. In greek and roman mythology, he was a god of the dead living in the cold cold underworld. The planet is also cold.
Ever since it was discovered it has been known that Pluto wasn't quite the same as other planets but as there was no definition of planet so everyone just called it a planet.
As more objects like Pluto have been found either they had to be planets as well or Pluto had to lose it's status as a planet. If Pluto were classified as a planet the number of planets would immediately have increased to twelve but could have eventually grown to over twenty.
The new definition of planet does not include Pluto so a new class called dwarf planets has been created to cover Pluto and the other objects like it.
Since there are still a few problems with the new definition of planet things may not have settled yet.
It is official, there are 8 planets. The group of scientists that define things like planets now call Pluto a dwarf planet, which if you ask me is just a nice way of saying "Oops we've been calling you a planet all these years and you're definately a comet."
I'd say Pluto is still a planet of our solar system. I also think that 99% of the human population will agree.
Nope. It was declassified as a plante because it was to small. So I guess size does matter. At least when it comes to planets. LOL
not really...it kinda is..it's just considered a dwarf planet now
To be honest, I (along with seems alot of other people) still hold true to the belief that Pluto is still a planet.
The governing body cannot decide to change the rules just because they don't fit their definition. It's like in sports, just because you're losing the game, that doesn't mean you can change rules as you go. You can change the rules for the next game and go from there.
I think it would have been wise and caused less uproar if they had left Pluto alone and used the rules to define future celestial bodies.
Of course, I could always cause a conspiracy and say that they changed Pluto's status because the IAU is anti-american (after all Pluto was discovered here in the wonderful state of Arizona).
Pluto IS and ALWAYS WILL BE a PLANET!

That's why i say, some human are assholes.
Just because to hit news headline, an orange shall be re-determined as an sub-fruit because it have rough skin?
(narrrh, u know what i mean...)
That IS true that Pluto is not a planet anymore. BECAUSE they re-defined the definition of a planet or something BECAUSE they found 100's more of planets or something and so now there are only 8 planets.
But I think Pluto sould be a planet because now
My (Mercury)
Very (Venus)
Educated (Earth)
Mother (Mars)
Just (Jupiter)
Served (Saturn)
Us (Uranus)
Nine (Neptune)
Pizzas (PLUTO!)
is wrong and Pluto should be a planet!
