It's big
A system consisting of a sun in the center and other objects revolving around it. The objects can be planets, comets, asteroids, planetoids, icy chunks, etc.
There's a sun (which is actually a star...all stars in the sky could be suns to other planets). And we now have eight major planets. We used to have nine, but some astronomers decided it wasn't good enough to be called a planet, so we have eight. Now we have to change history and science books. I say we should just buy stickers and wherever the books say "nine" we put a sticker that says "eight."
Now, there's also an asteroid belt just beyond Mars and one near Pluto (the ex-major planet).
We have three dwarf planets - Pluto, Ceres, and one called Xena, after the TV show character.
The sun is in the middle of its life cycle. Near the end of the cycle, it will expand greatly, then eventually explode. We won't be alive to see that.
Our solar system probably isn't that remarkable. It's our perception that's remarkable.
