Since we have Solar Power, can Lunar Power be used as well?
Question:
Answer:
there's no such thing as lunar power ...
you see the moon because it reflects sun light towards earth ...
so if we ever figure out a way to use moonlight as a energy source, it would still be solar energy ...
No because the sun emmits heat which is mandatory for energy. The moon doesn't emit heat. Maybe you can use the moons gravitational pull for something but like a Luner Panel? No.
The moon doesn't have any energy. It only reflects the light coming from the sun. So lunar power is really just very weak solar power.
No coz moon gets light from the sun as well.
No, it would just be a weak reflection of solar power. The moon doesn't emit any radiation remember... it just reflects the sun.
Nor could we use Luna-thermal power, since it is relatively inactive.
Yes! Not from the light that is reflected by the moon, but from the tides that the moon causes. Tidal power is a real potential power source. Currently the major problem is that in areas that have good tide potential silt will foul the turbines.
The sun is as bright as 480,000 full moons.
bcc is correct tidal waves generated by the different phases of the moon can be utilized to power special wave turbines on coastal areas there are now existing technologies and time will come electricity will come from these tidal powered generators
What is solar power?
it is energy radiated by the Sun in the form of light rays.
Sun radiates its 'own' energy which is sufficient for the power generation but what about moon?
Moon does not radiate its 'own' energy but it just reflects the sunrays. The intensity of these reflected rays is very very less and hence right now using today's technology its impossible to use this energy to generate power.
