Are there abdominal muslces taht protect the solar plexus?

Question:

Answer:
I don't believe so.

At the peak of my fighting career and physical conditioning, I still could not take a sharp blow to the solar plexus without losing my air.

The best way to protect the solar plexus is with the proper fighting stance. NEVER face your opponent straight on. If you stand squared up to your opponent, the solar plexus and your entire chest and abdomen are easy targets. Instead, in the case of a right-hander, stand with your left shoulder pointed toward your opponent. This stance minimizes the number of techniques an opponent can use, because you are offering a much smaller target area. You mostly only need to defend against hook punches and roundhouse kicks in this stance and if your opponent is also a right-hander, his roundhouse kick will be with the front leg, so there is less power in it.

See how important a proper fighting stance can be when it comes to defense?
yes,I believe they are the Rectus Abdominus.
Developing your upper abs helps some. I have heard there is a style of kung fu that helps.
i have a six pack and it does not cover my solar plex all the way it might helpbut i still lose my air when someone hits me there
No- the solar plexus is an area COMPLETELY void of any and all musculature- that is what makes it such a dangerous spot- it's job is to protect the heart. "Plexus" means a joining area- many things converge at that area, so it has no covering, itself... On the other hand, it's pretty hard to punch, accurately, so, I'd work on Pecs, and upper abs, the two most likely spots that a person would hit, when aiming for the solar plexus...
no

nothing can protect the solar plexis it is where you should aim for in karate i get told stomach level all the time and im like ... dude you can hit me in the stomach and ill hit you in the solar plexis and we can see who is standing after
