Just like the 1859 event knocked out the world's telegraph system for a few weeks, the right solar expulsion will destroy all satellites or knock out electricity grids permanently or pass inertly through everything, like neutrinos do, except for interacting with any/all enriched material (and some naturally occurring radioactive sources) kick-starting it, so no containment is possible
Wouldn't it be divine retribution if people living or working near manufactured and refined radioactive materials were to find that bombs are not going to be dropped on strangers but are to go "hot" right where they are. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
