How many moons are there in the solar system.?
Question:
Answer:
The question actually starts to get a little complicated because it depends on how you define a "moon". Earth is easy obviously 1. Mercury and Venus are also because they have zero. Same with Mars 2. Thennnn we start to get to the gas giants and things aren't so clear cut anymore. Jupiter and Saturn have TONS.
What does TONS mean? Well saturn had 15 now it is listed as have 19 ( in some places), while others quote it at 31 moons. There are sheppard moons, or simply captured asteroids. Below are some images of "moons" of saturn. Now keep in mind saturn is MUCH bigger than earth. So these simply could be asteroids that got captured by the giant gravity of saturn. In your opinion should these be official "moons"? Keep in mind a lot of junk gets captured by the gravity of these gas giants.

The definition, unfortunately, is where we get different answers from. Much like the question, should pluto be a planet.
Jupiter is even more confusing, the #s listed for Jupiter change wildly from one source to another. One source literally shows Jupiter having 63 moons!

While others will have far far less. The question is one that the International Astronomical Union should (and probably has) answered. They are after all the official organization for Astronomy, ultimately this is the group that decided Pluto's fate. I have looked for your answer, I just can't find the exact quote on their site for how many moons they recognize.
There are 240 known moons within the Solar System, including 163 orbiting the planets,[1] 4 orbiting dwarf planets, and dozens more orbiting small solar system bodies. Other stars and their planets also have natural satellites
a lot
one has 17 moons
and they are only the discovered ones
there are infinite moons and infinite solar systems
they are about, 240 moons present in our solar system
Mercury 0
Venus 0
Earth 1
Mars 2
Jupiter 63
Saturn 56
Uranus 27
Neptune 13
Pluto 3
They are infinite..
Because the Earth has his Moon,
Some other planets have their Moons,
And every lover also has his moon too.
So they are absolutely infinite.
A whole lot! Probably more than we know about.
Mercury 0
Venus 0
Earth 1
Mars 2
Jupiter 63
Saturn 56
Uranus 27
Neptune 13
Pluto 3
there are roughly 245 known moons, but take a look at this site.
