There will be one visible from northern Greenland and Siberia on August 1, 2008.

The soonest one will be visible in the U.S. will be August 21, 2017.

Can't wait until 2017? There will be one visible from the south Pacific on November 13, 2012. You will have to take one of those eclipse cruises to see that one, but I think a south Pacific cruise might be nice.

That depends entirely on where you're located and/or how far you're prepared to travel to see one. There are usually a couple of solar eclipses each year, but they often are visible only in very remote areas. Last year in March I travelled from Canada to Libya to witness an eclipse there. It cost me a couple of thousand dollars, but it was worth it , to me anyway.

So tell us where you live and how far you're willing to travel. The next couple of eclipses, in 2008 and 2009, are mainly visible in China.
Well, there are two solar eclipses a year, somewhere on the planet. Where it is all depends on where the umbras are. There are eclipse seasons each year. This next one will be in late august and early September.
