How dou you build solar eclipse.?

Question:
my son has to use some materials, like wood wire, paper, and light to build a solar eclipse model for year 7 science class.can someone give us some ideas?
thanks

Answer:
make a basic frame set out of the wood then draw the sun in lightly with yellow crayon on some grease paper, stretch the paper over the frame and you could shine a torch at the back of it .
Take some black card and cut ot out to match the size of the sun, you could glue a straw or lollie stick to attatch, the move the black card in behind the sun to eclipse. Best i could think of!
Don't draw the sun. Try to rig up a lamp so the light bulb lays horizontally, so that the bulb seen end on looks spherical.

Then make your cardboard moon and fix onto the top of a wire. Fix the wire in a childs toy truck, or even a roller skate, so you can move it along.

Put all the lights out, except your horizontal lamp. Move the moon model so it passes in front of the lamp. You will have to experiment with moon size and distance from the lamp untilyou get an exact fit.

Good luck.
