The energy obtained from sun is thus solar energy.
No one can be identified as the first person to discover solar energy. Man is using solar energy since his creation.
Energy is produced in sun through a nuclear reaction called fussion: the hydrogen atoms under the influence of gravitational pull fuse with one another to form Helium atom. This results in emission of energy.
The energy reaching to earth is just a very minor portion of the total energy radiating from the sun.
Recent attempts of utilizing solar energy have a history of about forty to fifty years. I think it is a long way to make the solar technology as advanced as other branches of science.
Solar power describes a number of methods of harnessing energy from the light of the Sun. It has been present in many traditional building methods for centuries, but has become of increasing interest in developed countries as the environmental costs and limited supply of other power sources such as fossil fuels are realized. It is already in widespread use where other power supplies are absent, such as in remote locations and in space.
