Is it true that some planets have been discovered outside our solar system?
Question:
Answer:
The first undisputed planetary discovery outside the Solar System was by a Swiss astronomer name Mayer in 1995. Since then well over 200 such planets have been found. Most by their gravitational influence on their star, but a few by noting a drop in the star's light when the planet passes between us and the star. At least one has been found floating free, through its passage through a nebula.
Nearly all these planets are the size of Jupiter or larger. A very few have been found that are smaller, including one orbitting a pulsar (along with three other planets around the same pulsar) that has the mass of our moon.

Yes, I did hear that also.
Wow, congratulations numbnuts. Scientists have known of other planets and their locations for years and years.
Scientists have discovered many planets outside our solar system including some similar to Earth.
We've found more than 150 extrasolar planets, but current techonology can only find gas giants larger than Jupiter. Hopefully the new telescopes currently being designed and built will be more sensative.
Yes I believe that is true

Extra-solar Planets Catalog
In the last ten years they have found well over 100 extrasolar planets, including a gas giant only 10.5 light years away.
The Large Binocular Telescope, an interferometer, should be able to image some of them directly.
Who cares ?It's already taken too long to leave our own.10..9..8..7
