Why my solar cooker never increases temperature above 70 degree celcius?
Question:
Answer:
A lot depends on how large it is, the distance from your glass to the bottom of the box, even the angle of the top compared
to the bottom of your box. And let us not forget the weather.
The Sun has to be showing, and at the right angle. This setup
will not work at the north pole, but do very nicely at the equator. DO NOT BER AFRAID TO TRY DIFERRENT THINGS. EXPERIMENT.
You need some insulation on the closed sides.
If your oven has a reflective inner surface, you must have a dark pot inside to absorb the light.
It is better to have a dark inner oven lining to absorb most of the visible light, but make sure the inner lining is heat resistant.
You need to shine the light thru a glass door. Some types of glass are better; you need transparent glass that reflects infrared.
Mirrors to collect light from the sides and shine it thru the glass will help.
It's best to have some thermal mass, like rocks or sand inside; that will make it slower to warm up, but will also keep it warm over night so you have a head start the next morning.
When the sun sets, cover the glass with insulation.
Don't open the door every 5 minutes to check the temperature; have a thermometer where you can read it thru the glass.
Don't put wet stuf in the oven until it is hot.
if you add some sort of insulation you may get better results also if your cooker isnt making heat you may need to change it
