Solar Energy?

Question:
Does anyone know anything or any websites about how Solar Power has changed over the last 50 years in the uk and in the world

Answer:
The basic principles that make solar work haven't changed. The methods used to manufacture and install solar panels have greatly improved. It is still costly so it will take some time before you make your money back. They also require some ongoing cleaning and maintenance. It is still a better option than burning fossil fuels for the long term.
There is a National Public Radio show called Talk of the Nation Science Friday that does regular shows on solar power. You could probable google it. They have a pretty organized archive of shows you can listen too.

I know that over the last two years, solar has turned the corner on competing with coal. As soon a manufacturing ramps up you'll start to see a steady conversion to solar in sunny regions. I'm not sure how suited it would be for the UK.

Also, their is an Australian company preparing to start building solar towers in a few places. The 3,000 foot tall structures are supposed to be able to power a small town as long as the sun keeps on shining.
I think every country in this world should make a law that every building should a solar power back up system or use solar power to light the areas where light is not really necessary. Eg- Washrooms, deck etc.
