Humans must colonize planets in other solar systems?

Question:
In order to survive, humanity would have to venture off to other hospitable planets orbiting another star, but conventional chemical fuel rockets that took man to the moon on the Apollo mission would take 50,000 years to travel there.

"Science fiction has developed the idea of warp drive, which takes you instantly to your destination,".

"Unfortunately, this would violate the scientific law which says that nothing can travel faster than light."

However, by using "matter/antimatter annihilation", velocities just below the speed of light could be reached, making it possible to reach the next star in about six years.

What do you think?

Answer:
Hey, what ever floats your boat I would think would be the best. I see NASA in USA declared in yahoo news today that they intend to have a permanent human living quarters on the moon by 2025. So maybe your on your way already. Hmmmm
i think that science has been wrong in the past and is probably wrong now

remeber the earth is the center of the solar system....
Considering the Sun has 5 Billion years left in it before it melts everything on earth we will need to move one day if we are to survive. The nearest solar system andromeda would take 2 million years to reach there at the speed of light so the cave men would have a better start than us if they had the technology. Alpha centura is our nearest star but they have found only gas planets so far orbiting it.
Nope..
Don't think that will work either..
People can't drive going 55 miles per hour now. Can you imagine how bad they would drive at 186,000 miles per second. What would the vehicle look like when it hit an object that flew in its path. Reaction time is not that quick you know.
Nobel prize winning physicist Enrico Fermi, who designed humankinds first controlled fission reactor (among other things -pretty much every solid state physics concept is named after him) gave an argument that answers your question commonly known as "Where is everybody" see the wiki page

I believe in the ability to "distort" space to achieve incredible velocities between two points. A form of it already takes place with "gravitational lensing". I think of it as a string. You can join both ends of the string as 1 point, then, release the string and material which started on one end of the string has been deposited on the other end of the string. Technologies such as this will revolutionize the way we think of Einstein's theories, and will allow us to colonize the stars as in Hawking's theory like you mentioned above.
No. There is enough destruction in our planet... and for what more one to destruct...? We are the only animals that destroy the ourselves home...
What might our galaxy and mankind be like in 10,000 years? Read the Foundation series by Issac Asimov, written over 50 years ago, wherein man has left Earth and colonized the galaxy so thouroughly that his origin is lost in antiquity.

Hawking is not talking science fiction. Yes, to us on Earth, the trip to the nearest star would take years with such a vehicle, but to the astronauts, only months due to time dialation. If mankind can keep from destroying himself, if we can survive our technical adolescence and be the humanity we are capable of, it is our destiny to colonize this corner of the galaxy over the next 200 years, and continue from there.

By the way, also technically we are on the verge of curing all forms of disease, including aging, in this century. I believe it is possible that many alive today will have an indefinite lifespan, and witness or even participate in solar and galactic colonization. And if your life can last an indefinite time, what is a few months, or years, or even decades of travel?
Must they??
As long as you plan to take your gods with you, we will not allow you to leave your star system. Once you mature as a species, you would be allowed, but Humans will not have worry about that. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species. Your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you and neither does your penchant to breed beyond your planet's ability to sustain you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.
